Mindfulness Mini Retreat

Let me get straight to the point; motherhood is bloody hard work.  Far harder than you probably ever imagined, yes it’s amazing and you love your child beyond measure but let’s not sugar coat it, its hard work.  There’s no training on how to balance being a mum; working; running a business; keeping a home; being a good wife/partner/daughter/friend.

Mothers are like Chinese plate spinners trying to keep everything balanced whilst looking graceful and in control.  But more often than not our plates come crashing down.

So how do you find the balance?  As an ‘all or nothing’ person this was extremely hard for me.  After my second daughter I was exhausted, stressed and completely overwhelmed.  When the doctor diagnosed me with depression my final plate crashed to the floor.  The only thing spinning was my head.  I didn’t know how to ask for help.  I knew I needed to find some balance.

I slowly began to weave self-care into my day; I set boundaries, changed my negative self-talk and began to feel the difference.  It was a slow and steady process and a huge learning curve.  During those darkest days I swore that if I could find a way out of this I would do what I could to help others too.  We all have many plates to spin; finding the balance is the key and it begins with a solid foundation of self-care.  When you’re rock steady in your centre, when you know who you’re and your needs are met, then you’re able to gracefully spin all your plates in harmony.

To help you find that balance I have put together this beautiful 3.5 hour mini retreat where I’ll be sharing many of the tools that helped me including:

  • Breathing techniques to reduce stress and anxiety so you feel calm and centred
  • Guided meditation to release guilt for taking a much needed break
  • Practical tools to weave self-care into your daily life so you can find the right balance between ‘doing’ and ‘being’
  • Mindfulness exercises to help you become more present so you can enjoy the moment and let go endless worry
  • A value setting exercise to tune into what’s really important to you so you always put your highest priorities first

As part of the retreat you will also receive your very own Mindful Mama Kit.  This will become your daily go-to tool to help you really put into action the steps you learn in the retreat.

Mindfulness is a practice that allows you to step fully into the present moment, being consciously aware of your thoughts, feelings and environment.  It allows you to consciously choose a new way to respond.

As a Mindful Mama you will become more present in all your activities and be able to respond calmly to life’s stresses.  You’ll be aware of your emotional triggers and begin to respond in new, more empowering ways.

Where and when is it?

The retreat will be held at the Concord Complimentary Health Centre, Washington on (Date to be Confirmed) from 1pm to 4.30pm.

Can I buy this as a gift?

Yes absolutely, on the order form you will see an option that says ‘this is for someone else’, tick this box and enter the name and email address of the recipient, you can also include a personal message and set the email to arrive on a specific date.

I can’t make this date will you be running another one?

I’m suffering with anxiety and don’t like to sit in silence, will I be OK to attend?

This retreat will be especially beneficial for you.  All of the meditations and relaxations are guided, therefore there will be no silence, however I will be discussing the importance of such quiet time to deal with difficult emotions and providing helpful tools to support you with this.

Do I need to take notes?

No, after the retreat you will receive an Ebook which will be a useful reminder of everything we have discussed.

I can’t attend this retreat but love the idea of it, is there anything else that can help me?

Yes, I have a Self-care & Mindfulness Ekit which would be perfect.  The Ebook covers the topics we discuss in the retreat and you receive a copy of the guided meditation and relaxation too. Nothing beats being there in person but the Ekit is the next best thing!
