Let me get straight to the point; motherhood is bloody hard work. Far harder than you probably ever imagined, yes it’s amazing and you love your child beyond measure but let’s not sugar coat it, its hard work. There’s no training on how to balance being a mum; working; running a business; keeping a home; being a good wife/partner/daughter/friend.
Mothers are like Chinese plate spinners trying to keep everything balanced whilst looking graceful and in control. But more often than not our plates come crashing down.
So how do you find the balance? As an ‘all or nothing’ person this was extremely hard for me. After my second daughter I was exhausted, stressed and completely overwhelmed. When the doctor diagnosed me with depression my final plate crashed to the floor. The only thing spinning was my head. I didn’t know how to ask for help. I knew I needed to find some balance.
I slowly began to weave self-care into my day; I set boundaries, changed my negative self-talk and began to feel the difference. It was a slow and steady process and a huge learning curve. During those darkest days I swore that if I could find a way out of this I would do what I could to help others too. We all have many plates to spin; finding the balance is the key and it begins with a solid foundation of self-care. When you’re rock steady in your centre, when you know who you’re and your needs are met, then you’re able to gracefully spin all your plates in harmony.
To help you find that balance I have put together this beautiful 3.5 hour mini retreat where I’ll be sharing many of the tools that helped me including:
- Breathing techniques to reduce stress and anxiety so you feel calm and centred
- Guided meditation to release guilt for taking a much needed break
- Practical tools to weave self-care into your daily life so you can find the right balance between ‘doing’ and ‘being’
- Mindfulness exercises to help you become more present so you can enjoy the moment and let go endless worry
- A value setting exercise to tune into what’s really important to you so you always put your highest priorities first
As part of the retreat you will also receive your very own Mindful Mama Kit. This will become your daily go-to tool to help you really put into action the steps you learn in the retreat.
Mindfulness is a practice that allows you to step fully into the present moment, being consciously aware of your thoughts, feelings and environment. It allows you to consciously choose a new way to respond.
As a Mindful Mama you will become more present in all your activities and be able to respond calmly to life’s stresses. You’ll be aware of your emotional triggers and begin to respond in new, more empowering ways.
Your Mindful Mama Kit will include:
- Creative Mindfulness Colouring Cards – your daily dose of mindfulness, creativity and focus
- A Mindful Mama wrist band – your visual reminder to focus on the breath
- My Self-care & Mindfulness Ekit, which includes an Ebook, a powerful guilt release mediation and deep breathing MP3 for relaxation
Where and when is it?
The retreat will be held at the Concord Complimentary Health Centre, Washington on (Date to be Confirmed) from 1pm to 4.30pm.
Is this retreat for me?
This retreat is for you if:
- You never get a minute to yourself and need some ‘me’ time
- You spend all your time taking care of others needs without taking care of your own
- You’re stressed and overwhelmed or perhaps feeling a little resentful
- You wish to be more in the moment and let go of the need to control everything
- You’re exhausted and need some breathing space
- You’re a ‘doer’ and don’t know how to switch off
- You crave time alone but the silence deafens you and you need a distraction
You’re the heart of your home. It’s essential that your needs are taken care of and the only person who can do that is YOU. Your health and happiness aren’t measured by external things; they are measured by your internal self-worth. Value yourself enough to take this time to recharge your batteries, renew your spirit and become fully present in all areas of your life. The tools I’m sharing in this retreat have changed my life. They can do the same for you.
You deserve this!

Thank you Vicky for the really powerful mindfulness tools you shared at the mini retreat. As a mom with two small children and a stressful job I often find it really difficult to to bask fully in the here and now. I learned so much from the retreat and feel like I have the tools now to centre myself, to be the loving mother and wife I want to be, and to cope with the difficulties life throws up. The retreat gave me such a great start and your book and meditation recordings are helping me stay on track. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Vikki

“If you’re already in a place where you’re pushing yourself, then push yourself to go to this retreat. It’s time to step back and begin to see how much you’re neglecting yourself. You get glimpses of the real you and a lot of encouragement to grab hold of that person and bring them back to reality. I feel I can start that now” Leanne
“An afternoon well spent to learn about how to look after myself better and control what happens in my life. A really enjoyable session. I have come away with lots of useful tools to practise” Susan
